Brief summary of awards:
Annual Recognition Award: Substantial character-related contribution(s) to the community by an individual and normally not expected of their job. Often connotes contributions over time. Awarded at the Recognition Breakfast.
Business of Character Award: Substantial character-related contribution(s) to the community by a business and not normally expected of a business. Often connotes contributions over time. Nominations follow a format similar to the Annual Recognition Award for individuals. Awarded at the Recognition Breakfast.
Youth Award: An award to one youth selected by their school for exemplary character and presented at CHARACTER COUNTS! Celebration Night. Note: In selecting its Annual Youth Award recipient, a school may choose to use a nomination submittal form similar to the one provided for Bloomingdale CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition’s (BCC!C’s) Annual Recognition Award. BCC!C has heretofore not been involved with the Youth Award nomination and selection process by the schools. It is possible that a school may want to honor some nominated students in addition to the one being chosen for the Youth Award.
Pillar Award: Substantial one-time character-related contribution to the community. Often awarded soon after the contribution in as public a manner as possible.
Junior Pillar Award: Substantial one-time character-related contribution to the community by a youth. Often awarded soon after the contribution in as public a manner as possible, most likely at their school.
Random Act of Character Award: Praiseworthy, spontaneous, one-time (or more) character-related act(s) of character by a youth. Often awarded soon after the contribution in as public a manner as possible, most likely at their school, hopefully with BCC!C. Award is patterned after “random acts of kindness,” acts of spontaneous kindness.
